For the love of the game and world cup glory 32 of the best teams have gathered in Russia. Today, we briefly look at these teams. These are my opinions on each team. Today we profile the Serbian team.

Russia will be Serbia’s 12th appearance at the World Cup. Those that make you raise your eye brows. They have previously been at the World Cup as part of the nations of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro teams.

However do not think for one second the break of the nation means this squad are any weaker. In fact, they had only one defeat in ten matches on the road to Russia. Still they are entering this World cup as an unknown entity.

Who makes up the core of this team you ask?

  • This is the team of Manchester’s United Nemanja Matic.
  • AS Roma’s Kolarov
  • Southampton’s Dusan Tadic
  • Lazio forward Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
  • Former Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic (skipper and leader)

Russia looks like the year they would unleash their full attacking might on the rest of the teams.

Likely hero

The playmaker from Lazio Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Achilles’ heel

Lack of strength in depth

Did you know

Their best performance has been 4th as part of Yugoslavia in 1930 and 1962.
